Spring Cleaning for Your Car

Cleaning a car

Prevention is the best approach when it comes to car maintenance, and a spring tune-up is no exception. The best cars are the ones that are well taken care of, and a little bit of extra care goes a long way in extending the life of your car and maintaining your vehicle’s value. You want to ensure that small, routine maintenance tasks do not turn into larger problems down the road.

In their recent article, CAA offers some great advice for giving your car the spring cleaning it deserves, many of which you can complete yourself, such as:

  1. Checking your tires for uneven tire wear patterns and proper tire inflation

  2. Giving your car a good clean inside and out, being sure to wax the outside to protect from rust

  3. Lightening your load of any sandbags or other winter gear to increase fuel efficiency

In addition to these simple steps, stop in at your mechanic for a few quick, inexpensive procedures, including changing your oil and air filter, putting away the block heater cord, and rotating your tires.

If winter took too much of a toll on your vehicle, spring is also be a great time to follow the adage: “out with the old, in with the new.” Consider refreshing your choice of vehicle to have a new selection, just in time for summer.
